Black-Eyed Peas

HAPPY NEW YEAR Y'all!!!!!!

I am officially declaring 2009, The Year of the Unsold Book. That means everyone who hasn't sold one, will.

Today, I shall eat some black-eyed peas in our honor. Oh! With greens. Isn't that the thing you're supposed to do on New Year's Day? Are the greens required? (SF?) Maybe this is just in the South. Hmmm... If it is, please write in and tell us what your New Year's traditions are.

I am getting ready to mail KISS AND TELL to a spectacular agent, so I am going to add a few killer scenes to it today. Then I might go to Zumba if they are having it, and since my mom is in town from Virginia, I'll probably hit the grocery store to concoct a large and beautiful supper.

And SF, we'll pop over if you're home :-)

Love to all!

Katie

The greens are not required. But, that sounds really good . . . so go for it.

No zumba today. I'm staying in my pjs as long as I can.

I may pop over later--or you and your mom could pop over here.

Happy New Year!!!

mom is sitting here saying that stewed tomatoes are required rather than greens. I am not sure I believe her?

Give me the greens! I do put a little tomato in the peas though. And don't forget the cornbread! LOVE New Year's in the south... excited for you about getting Kiss and Tell ready to hit the streets...gonna be a great year!

We have decided on cabbage, sausage, and potatoes with black-eyed peas on the side.

And cornbread, of course.

The cabbage is our "greens."

Mmmm...

Oh, I forgot about eating black-eyed peas on New Year's Day! I always did that when I lived in Atlanta. Maybe it is a regional thing?? We need some *real* west coasters to weigh in on this.

And I love the idea of 2009 being the year of the unsold book. Here's to getting all those suckers sold!!!

Love,
R

Black-eyed peas? Wow, we northerners miss out on a lot! :)

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Yep, the black eyed peas thing is definitely Southern! I'd never heard of it before this year, when bot you and a friend from Texas mentioned it.
Here on the west coast we just get drunk and make radical resolutions we can never live up to.

Well, we get drunk and do the resolution thing down here, too. We just add some overcooked vegetables to the mix.

Happy 2009!!
