My apologies.

If you haven't noticed, I have been fairly absent from blog posting lately. This is due to a number of things, including Blog Block, Revisionitis, Extreme Traveling, and Summer Slowdown - which involves markedly less hours online, and a much higher intake of fried pickles. Just kidding.

SF, on the other hand, has been upping her intake of blogohol and has been sweating blog posts out of her pores. Thanks SF!

I am now in Virginia, so I thought I'd tell you about a couple of things that have happened while here.

Are you ready?

I yanked out about a third of the eyelashes over my right eye. I kid you not, I was putting on my new Bare Escentuals mascara (which I ADORE) and with curler in hand, slipped somehow and accidentally pulled out a chunk of eyelashes!!! YOWZA! Panic ensued and an early a.m. phone call to Carrie (SF's and my hairdresser). She advised me to trash the old school eyelash curler and buy the new battery operated heated kind that acts like a mini curling iron. Do y'all use these? I can't wait to get home and get one!

Today we went to a local parade that was so cute and felt like we were in some random New England town. My favorite parade event was a group of 40 somethings (about 16 of them) that marched together - each carrying a non-matching lawn chair (like the above photo). Their leader would blow the whistle and they would either just open the chairs and sit for a minute, or they would wave their chairs into "the wave," or they might make some random formation or sing some silly song, but they were having a ball and were loads of fun to watch. It was adorable.

I will post pics soon (and NO - not of my bald eye).

HAPPY FOURTH Y'ALL!!!!!! I have to go now. Gotta help Dad fire up the grill.

What's this? A new mascara to try...you tempt me, you minx. I ADORE new mascaras! And a heated eyelash curler? How could I have missed that??? Not to seem insensitive to your mishap, but thank you for the informative post!

Oh, and glad you're posting again... ;)

Yes. The Bare Essentials mascara is Dee Vine. And the heated eyelash curler is apparently THE tool for those under 30.

We are behind the times it seems. I'll let you use it in LA :)

I mean Bare Escentuals. I keep spelling it wrong. And I think I have one that hasn't been released yet -cuz I'm cool and in the know and all :)

Hmm..and here I thought my Shu Umera eyelash curler was all that and a bag of tricks. Do post an update on this heated eyelash curler and let us know if it's worth the upgrade.

Ooh, and please ask your stylist for some mink fakies while your lashes grow back. I just want to say that I know someone who rolls like J. Lo.

I've been on vacation for so long that I forgot how to blog! I totally lost my groove and can't think of anything to post about, so I can completely relate. I did read three books in seven days though which is an accomplishment, including The Help by your friend Kathryn Stockett. It was AMAZING.

Katie, you may need to try that prescription cream that makes eyelashes grow. But, first, I think we all need to see a picture to assess the damage.

I cut all of my eyelashes off of my right eye when I was five. I know this is not the same as yanking them out by the roots, but they did grow back.

I do not trust a heated eyelash curler. That sounds scary--what if you slip while holding that thing? Ye-owch!!

And what is this new mascara?

Okay ladies. First of all, LILA - it WAS the mighty Shu that ripped my lashes from their roots!

Yes. It was.

And the mascara is the Bare Escentuals FLAWLESS mascara which I can't find online anywhere.

dork admission: I was watching QVC one night at MIDNIGHT when I couldn't sleep at the beach and saw it featured and ordered that baby right up! And lo, it is glorious :)

But I've heard that the DIOR mascara is divine as well.

Oh! And SF - no. no pics :) But my children have said it is more like a fourth of the lid.

Am I the only person that doesn't curl their lashes? I have like.. fourteen of them. And they're invisible.

Sorry to hear about your lashtastrophe, but it sounds like you're in good hands! Glad to hear you're back!

A battery powered eyelash curler? I guess it's been too long since I cruised the beauty department, but that sounds curiously irresistable!

A heated eyelash curler? And people laughed when I bought a heater to warm up the tushie wipes for my kids...

Oh, and I have to try that eyelash curler now. That sounds amazing --

(this time I won't type with coffee in hand and put my elbow on the enter button)

I love Bare Escentuals makeup! Sorry about the "bald eye". That made me snarf out loud. Not that you lost all your eyelashes, just those words...they're funny. Bald eye. Bald eye. Bald eye. ROTFL.
