Snow Leopard and Screenplays

Katie and I went to lunch yesterday to brainstorm an idea for a TV pilot, and we came away with a KILLER hook for our screenplay instead. It is so awesome, I can't even believe it. Sorry to be a tease, but we can't reveal the details just yet . . . just know that it involves soccer moms, cheesey games of Bunko!, and the World Series. That's all you get right now (oh, just so you know, the women in our movie are totally goobed out by bunko).

Then, I came home from lunch to obsessively check my email, and my computer would NOT connect to the internet. I installed the new Mac operating system Snow Leopard a few days ago, and my computer has been acting squirrely every since. Frustrating to say the least.

When my husband came home, I got on his laptop and searched for "Snow Leopard connection problems." The Apple chatboard advice went something like this . . .

"Dude, you see that button that looks like an apple on the top left of your screen? See it? Okay, click it.
Then, like, look around in all that stuff and when you see the word automatic somewhere, click on that.
So, rename that thing that says "automatic" something cool like "starfish" or "paisley". And, then, like everything should work fine."

Believe it or not. I did all of that. And, I'm connected faster than ever. Gotta love a Mac!

Dinner tonight? Chicken and Dumplings.
Got a sick little girl here.

I work in computer tech support but know absolutely NOTHING about Macs. I'm lost. My sister has one and I can't even figure out how to get to the Internet.

Bunko!

So what did you name it? Come on! Inquiring minds want to know. You can't tell a story like that and NOT say what you named it...

Oh dear. We don't actually HAVE a name yet. We're just calling it the ultra-creative "Screenplay".

And, for the record, the women in our movie are "too cool for Bunko." And, they all have Macs--you've gotta love tech support that starts out with the word "dude."

So do I need Snow Leopard? I just have whatever OS my lovely little Mac came with. And I'm a total convert for the record. I'll never buy a PC again.

Umm..bunko and soccer moms go hand in hand, right? Do they at least get to drink a lot of wine in the process?

And if you guys ever get nominated for an MTV award, can you please take me? I really, really want to go. I mean, you'd probably have to take your husbands to the Oscars and Golden Globes, but you could totally sneak me into the VMA's, right?

First the middle grade novel. Now this? You are a whirlwind of ideas lately!

Elana! My husband just pointed out that you wanted to know the name of my network . . . not the screenplay. I'm so glad that he has a brain that works.

I named it sf. Before you say, "how boring" let me just say that "sf" actually stands for "SUPER FLY" (which is totally how I'm feeling today).

Dear Super Fly,

I am so friggin' fired up for our masterpiece that I can't make dinner, or do laundry, or speak to the kiddos, or the hubby....

you get the picture.

I MUST WRITE NOW!

If you're Super Fly, Can I be Killer? Make that Kee lah.

Love our new "handles", Kee lah.

Katie, Lila and all you other mac users--you can upgrade to Snow Leopard (leopard, btw, is a word I can NEVER spell--what's wrong with me?) for a mere $29. I highly recommend it. My computer is now flying . . . it's even writing books for me. Or it's at least fueling this new-found energy.

Let me know if you need any help, dudes.

I've never understood the whole Bunko obsession ... I'm so intrigued by your idea!! Can't wait to hear more! Hope your little one feels better soon.

Can I come over and have chicken and dumplings, too?

That sounds so good and comforting after the week I've had.

I agree with Shelley. I'm gonna make me some chicks and dumps too :-)

Let's compare recipes. Do you roll out your dough and make those flat square dumplings? I don't. I like the big poofy biscuit kind.

Mmmm.

We're making a jambalaya kind of shrimp and rice thing this weekend.

I roll out the dough--but I use enough baking soda so they poof out. Oh, and I use buttermlk.

I need my Mac to write books for me. What do you call that network? Do they have one that finds you an agent and handles revisions? What about one that will clean your house? Those Mac folks sure think of everything.
