Mad, Sad, Glad (volume one)

Pay attention Bloggers. I'm about to teach you a little game I play with the chickens called Mad, Sad, Glad. Feel free to play along in the comments. It's real easy. You just say one thing that made you mad, one thing that made you sad, and one thing that made you glad. Here I go (I'm gonna give you two):

Mad: I was mad that tonight during hot yoga my arms and feet kept slipping in my own sweat, making me completely unable to do the scorpion pose. AND, I made the mistake of taking my pre-teen to look for some boots and now have boot lust and no money to buy any.

Sad: I'm sad that my same fashion-minded pre-teen is struggling in English. Why? Because her teacher wants them to learn how to write. Not only does she hate reading worse than mosquitos, but she detests writing like bad seafood. Nice. And secondly, I keep seeing this one legged man selling collard greens out of the back of his truck?

Glad: I'm glad I got a fab new washer and dryer and my clothes now smell like bliss! But most importantly, I am continuing to discover fantastic new ideas to work into my revision. *squee!!!!!! (It is nightmarishly slow, but going good). Slow and steady wins the race, right?

How 'bout Y'all?

P.S. How friggin' crazy is it that I can type mad, sad, glad into Google Images and get a ready-made banner???

I adore the fact that you said your clothes smell like "bliss."

Mad - I am mad that my metabolism slowed to a grinding halt the day I turned 31 (sorry Lisa, I didn't want to tell you) hence causing my stomach to get soft and jiggly. I am drawing the line at Bikram 3x a week just for maintenance. If I was 30 I would look emaciated. But... alas, I am not.

Sad - I am sad that my dog Toby keeps peeing on my drapes and biting visitors. He is a sweet boy, but a rescue dog who was beaten. He is so much better than he was, but he still has issues that I have to figure out how to deal with before Mr. J loses his mind and someone decides to sue me.

Glad - I am glad that all of my writer friends are getting agents, selling books and are all atwitter (pun intended) with fabulousness these days.

Mad - That I was too tired to write tonight after I got home. And that I have to miss martial arts all week.

Sad - That the banana bread I brought to work apparently tasted "weird," but instead of telling me, my friend told everyone else behind my back in whispers. Unfortunately, I was standing behind him one of the times.

Glad - That I have tomorrow and Friday off so I can work on novel revisions.

Mad - I'm mad that LMJ just broke the news to me about my impending drop in metabolism. Shit. If my metabolism gets any slower I'm going to have to live off of lettuce and diet coke. Not cool.

Sad - I'm sad that my stomach seems to be twisted in a permanent knot and I can't sleep. And I'm going to be really, really sad when I have to wake up and drive carpool tomorrow after drinking a bottle of red wine and (if you tell anyone this last part, I'll totally deny it) smoking a cigarette or two last night. I might die tomorrow. Seriously.

Glad - I'm glad that I haven't watched Glee yet because I can't wait to see it and something tells me I'm going to need a pick-me-up after I sweat read wine at the gym tomorrow.

Jenn - I feel for ya on that banana bread. I hate it when that happens :(

Lila - Sadly, this writing gig not only twists your tummy in knots, but also your muscles (as my yogi told me tonight) aarrgghhh

Mad - That I actually cried on the phone when I realized my new insurance won't cover the dentist I've been seeing for 17 years. (If I would have waited for the PMS to pass before calling there would *not* have been snot bubbles and puffy eyes).

Sad - That I am the mom who is NOT looking forward to the fall carnival at school this weekend. The only enthusiasm I can muster will be for the Bailey's & coffee I'll leaving in my car.

Glad - That it's hubby's bday this weekend (thereby forcing oldest daughter home for festivities). I miss her!!!

Don't worry Kim. Our Fall Carnival is tonight and I'm dreading it like the plague.

Have fun in Chicago SF! I can't wait to hear about it!

MSG--without the headache!

Okay, hmmmm...

Mad: We spent too much money during our vacation and Christmas is coming!

Sad: That my son's 5th grade teacher is a moron and losing the respect of every child in the class.

Glad: An agent requested my full manuscript and I sent it off yesterday. Yay!!

Excellent!

Mad: I'm mad that time seems to have stopped completely.

Sad: I'm sad that half my tooth is eroding away and I can't get to the dentist until Monday. This could also be filed under the "mad" category.

Glad: I'm glad my son's flag football season is finally over! Those late night are COLD@!

LOL, Katie! Hmmm. . .

Mad: I've missed 8 potential writing days this month. And I have a deadline, people!!!! With Gorgeous Editor. I really don't want to let her down.

Sad: My *baby* has been teething molars for two weeks now and we are all miserable. He even got a tongue full of canker sores! Ouch!

Glad: I'm thankful for Children's Tylenol.

Mad: That I seem to be getting less and less time to write.

Sad: About the H1N1 terror that the elementary schools keep fueling in kids.

Glad: That it's Halloween. I get to buy candy and don't have to keep track of how much chocolate I am consuming since calories don't count on Halloween (or the weeks preceding and following it)
