Feelin' Funky

Look SF! While you were gone, I was in a temporary funk. I couldn't blog. I was kinda down. Someone stole all of my bedding (read below). And it rained a lot.

But Friday, as I was funking out by myself in my driveway, who dropped by to cheer me up?

Why, my new baby Max, of course :-)

And what better way to defunk than to bottlefeed and nurture an infant squirrel! Lord help me...

P.S. The reality of raising a squirrel has set in (after midnight and 4 am feeding) and I am now looking for adoptive parents. Anyone? Anyone? Come on SF! You know Copper needs a friend!!

But is this photo great, or what? Awww.. Okay - NOW I need to give this sucker away!

that is the cutest little guy i've ever seen (no i haven't left yet for my "excursion"...apparently we are on lockdown until the sheets are dry put on the bed...THEN we can go!).

By the way, I'm totally thinking that when you become famous, talking about your "pet squirrel" that you saved from the darkest alley's of hunger, will make for a nice BIO read. ;) You MAY want to reconsider aband--I mean adopting him out. hehehe.

And I'm not posting first because I want the squirrel...uh-uh no WAY!

Congratulations Clover! I will be mailing Max to you shortly :-)

Just kiddin'!

I am waiting for SF to get home. I think she might need another rodent.

If I lived with a six-hour drive of you I'd get in the car right this second! It has been a life-long dream to have a baby squirrel! And you get to bottle feed it? BONUS! Is there anything cuter than a baby squirrel drinking from a bottle? Clearly I had a Beatrix Potter obsession as a child...

Oh, he's adorable! How fun to see you with him and not have to actually do it myself :^)

HOLY SMOKES! I've got another one!!!!!!!! Damn Sam, what do I do?

Update: I attempted to release the second into the wild knowing full well that it will die within hours...

Meg and I feared it had rabies. don't ask me why. And the fact that it threw up something weird.

BUT - Meg burst into tears when it scaled a ginormous tree and then it began to rain and it was stuck up there with no food or anything and it's the size of a salt shaker.

SO, I had to wait with meg as she bawled and coaxed it down.

THEN, into the cage with Maxey it went.

uughhh

What a day

i found a litle squirrel and did this when I was a teen. It will enevtually leave if you leave it outside but keep feeding it :)

That is the most adorable little guy! And now you have two? How lucky! :-)

My friend saved a squirrel, Rocky, when I was a teenager. He took off on his own when he became a teenager. I think he wanted to find a Roxie.

I'm terrified of squirrels. Someone once told me a story about a squirrel attacking a baby and it scared the crap out of me. And yes, I know it wasn't true, but still....

Katie, you are a better woman than I.

My daughter wants it, but I'd fear for it's life. Sorry. :-)

OMG, that picture of him on your shoulder is the cutest thing ever!

You are such a better woman an I. I barely got up in the night to feed my own kids, let alone a squirrel! Or rather *squirrels*!! HAHA! (sorry, you weren't supposed to see the laugh).

Good luck!

Well..... Leland - (squirrel number two) died this afternoon. He was the one we were nervous about anyway. But Maxey is still fine.

My neighbor Shelli has been baby sitting for the last 2 nights while I have been at a dance competition and loving not waking up and feeding them.

But I miss little Max... I do.

But I hate him peeing on me too.

What to do?

I think I'll still give him away.

I think....

They're kinda scary, you know. I always think he might bite me.

Oh! And Christy R sent me some cool animal totem info today. Facts about why a squirrel would visit me. Evidently I have been storing too much and am TOO busy. Which might be true. -not the storing part. I am the OPPOSITE of a hoarder. I'm a throw-awayer.

Anyways... I also ate too much for dinner. Not that anyone cares.

I cannot believe that I have been out of town and missed the entire squirrel saga.

Do not bring that creature to my house. Jake will eat it (just like he did the precious bird nest full of eggs that we found in our stroller).

I will ask John what to do. He grew up with orphaned animals of all types--especially squirrels. I think you can let him go and he'll still come back and visit you. Now, wouldn't that be better?

I'm sorry that you killed the other one . . . I mean, I'm sorry the other one didn't make it.

Now, why did I just post from the wrong account?

It's me. sf.

I am told that he wILL come back and visit BUT Henry will surely eat him right up as soon as he knocks on my door!

So...

And anyway, he's too small to let go right now. He's still nursing!

Last night I missed him. Today I can't be bothered with him

I am so bad.

SF, you're like me. I have like 4 gmail accounts and sometimes I post from the wrong one. hee hee
